Graduations. A time for reflection and if you're a mom like me, a time for tears as our little ones aren't so little anymore. We get the joy of helping them begin to plan the next chapter of their lives while feeling like we are closing a chapter in our own. It's a crazy time for them AND for us. It's a year of lasts. Sad and exciting, all at the same time! I have a senior as well at Shawnee Mission West in Overland Park and I'm sure have I'll something profound to say about that experience, but that's another story, for another blog on another day. (My son is totally procrastinating his session.) I promise you it's not just your kid. Even the MY kid puts it off as long as possible and I do this for a living!
Elizabeth Wilkinson's mother Sharon, aka super HILARIOUS (and definitely NOT a procrastinator) mom, contacted me a couple of months ago to schedule Elizabeth's portrait session. I had already done her two older sisters, Ruth and Sarah (twins) the year before at Loose Park in Kansas City, Missouri. Sharon relayed that Elizabeth wanted a "more urban but still rustic" look for her images and I already knew that Sharon prefers a moody film look. I suggested West Bottoms because the area is full of textures, rusted metal and stonework. It's truly the holy grail of locations for Kansas City Photographers.
No matter how many times I shoot there, we ALWAYS come away with one of a kind images. I think they are going to be pretty happy with the images we captured during our evening session. We sat out to capture Ms. Elizabeth's sweet personality and GORGEOUS eyes (See image below) while her other sister, Mary Margaret (I hope I get to do her session next year) tagged along and offered up quite a few creative ideas (BONUS) and she was Elizabeth's makeup guru while mom helped with those curls. Thanks so much for all the fun and inspiration you 3 lovely ladies! I think we captured Elizabeth perfectly! What to you think? Comment below!
